Telugu cinema market in the overseas territory has increased a lot post Baahubali and Srimanthudu.
In the first six months of this year two films have grossed over 2 Million Dollars in USA alone. Small and medium budget films are able to collect close to Million Dollars if the talk and reviews are encouraging.
Good films like 24, Oopiri, Kshanam, Krishnagadi Veera Prema Gadha, Nannaku Prematho didn’t perform that well in the domestic circuit. But all these films were big hits in overseas. Director factor has once again worked wonders in overseas.
Trivikram’s A Aa collected over $ 2.4 Million in USA despite the absence of a superstar in the lead role. Sukumar factor played huge role in helping Nannaku Prematho to join the $ 2 Million club.
Bad films were turned down irrespective of the star cast. Films like Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Brahmotsavam and Sarrainodu failed miserably in overseas thus proving that they are not going to tolerate routine template films.
Nani is emerging as a bankable star in overseas market. After scoring a big blockbuster with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy last year, Nani’s films KVPG and Gentleman both collected over Seven lakh dollars in USA this year.
Nenu Sailaja, Soggade Chinni Nayana, Express Raja, Kalyana Vaibhogame are amongst the biggest gainers.
