Day 2: Kaala Sets Ticket Windows On Fire

The first-day box office collection of Kaala set the record for the lowest-ever box office opening for a Rajinikanth film. However, the film seems to have picked up momentum on its second day worldwide.

According to reports, the film has touched 1 million-mark in the US, and has collected about Rs 6.7 crore in the country.

Rajinikanth had achieved this record with films like Enthiran and Kabali.

#Kaala Friday reported hourly gross $273k  from 281 locations and total gross is $1 mil approx

In addition, the film has earned about Rs.10 crore in Karnataka, in spite of the initial bans, due to Rajinikanth's views on the Cauvery water dispute. However, now the film is running successfully in the state.

On its second day, according to early estimates, Kaala has reportedly collected Rs 1.44 crore in Chennai city.

Though Kaala had a low-key promotion in comparison to other Rajinikanth films, it has still made an impact on the audience.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film has Rajinikanth in the role of a gangster, who defends the rights of people in Dharavi.
