Having visited the ceremony of Atal Bihari Vajpayee being conferred the Bharat Ratna by Pranab Mukherjee; Chandrababu Naidu came away from the ceremony reiterating his demand for a ‘Bharat Ratna’ for his father-in-law NT Rama Rao who was actually kicked out of office by Naidu himself.
The reason Naidu gave for considering NTR’s name for ‘Bharat Ratna’ was interesting.
“NTR was the first person to align the opposition parties into a third front to take on the Congress in the country,” said Naidu.
Does that merit a ‘Bharat Ratna’? Naming the capital after NTR, naming every damn scheme after NTR, a Bharat Ratna for NTR, hospitals and universities after NTR; can’t these guys think beyond NTR and their community?
Thankfully, wiser sense prevailed and the new capital is going to be named ‘Amaravathi’. However, a new district is going to be carved out of the new capital area that will be named after NTR!
The same goes for YS Rajasekhar Reddy, too! Was he so great a person that Kadapa district had to be named after him? He was just another politician like NTR.
They did not bring independence to the nation or do anything of that sort! If the ruling Party cannot think beyond NTR and their community, then maybe it is time for them to construct not a new capital but a separate commune exclusively for their community where anything and everything can be named after NTR and other Telugu people and castes would not be welcome in that commune.
That probably would the best solution as the entire Telugu people would benefit as a result!
