TATA-Supported Community Health Fair in Texas

Houston, TX: TATA supported a community health fair held at Bryan-College Station, Texas. This is the first charitable event that was conducted with the help of TATA and local BCS doctors and volunteers to celebrate World Health Day.

“The fair benefited many people in the community,” said organizers Dr. Samba Reddy, a professor of medicine and community service leader, and Dr. Venkata Raju, a popular pediatrician and neonatalogist.

The free Health Fair, which featured free admission for all, was held in the local Omkaranth Temple premises. Over two dozen medical students volunteered at this health fair.

The fair was organized by Drs. Reddy and Raju under the advice of Dr. Nalini Dave with an overall theme of health examination, education, and exhibition. “This is a great way of celebrating the spirit of WHO’s World Health Day,” said organizers.

The fair has benefited over 300 participants including many children and elderly. Medical students helped screen BP, BMI, sugar, vision, and immunizations.

Consistent with the WHO 2015 theme of “Food Safety,” they promoted food education through a Sugar and Lipid display and provided kids bike safety tips with free helmets.
