The juvenile in the Nirbhaya case is all set to be released. While many people are against releasing him and some have even called for him to be executed while being treated as an adult, the Kejriwal government has different plans for him.
Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal in an effort to rehabilitate the juvenile decided that his government would go ahead and give him Rs 10,000 along with a sewing machine to enable him to open a tailoring shop. The Delhi government seems to be following the ‘Juvenile Act’.
This seems like a reward for the convict rather than punishment. All juveniles who are struggling to make ends meet, rape someone to death and you will get Rs 10000 and a sewing machine.
As the father of a daughter himself, one would have expected better sense from Kejriwal. In fact, Nirbhaya’s last request was that none of the perpetrators should be spared.
The least that could be done for her is to honor her final wish and not get into legal tangles of who is a juvenile and who is not. This kid might be a minor, but he needs to hang!
