Telangana: Ball Is In Shinde Court

It is now official. The Congress high command has already taken a decision on the Telangana statehood issue and the decision has been conveyed to home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to work out the modalities.

This was declared by AICC general secretary and senior leader Digvijay Singh to the media in New Delhi, after meeting a delegation of Seemandhra leaders on Monday afternoon. He said the party had already taken a decision and the stand had been conveyed to Shinde to work out the modalities and make an announcement before January 28, the deadline fixed by him for the same.

By saying so, Digvijay Singh clearly indicated to the leaders of Seemandhra and Telangana that there was no point in making rounds to Delhi as the Centre was already in the process of finalising the blue print on the Telangana issue. It means party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi had already given the final approval to the draft plan on Telangana. Since the statehood issue is in the purview of Shinde, he would make an announcement by this week-end!
