Balayya Embarrasses Jagan Group MLA

Senior actor and aspiring politician Nandamuri Balakrishna seems to be slowly learning the tricks of the trade in politics.

On Monday, Balakrishna caused a major political and moral embarrassment to Palamaner MLA N Amarnath Reddy, who had deserted the Telugu Desam Party and joined the YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The senior actor unveiled the statue of Amarnath Reddy’s father and former TDP MP late N Ramakrishna Reddy, along with that of legend actor N T Rama Rao, at Punganur .

Not only that, Balakrishna addressed a massive public meeting at Punganur, which is considered to be the stronghold of Amarnath Reddy, attacking the Congress party as well as “those who had defected from the TDP into rival parties for political convenience.” There was a tremendous response to Balakrishna’s speech. By unveiling the statue of Ramakrishna Reddy along with that of NTR, Balakrishna certainly evoked a strong sentiment among the people.

While Ramakrishna Reddy was a loyalist of the TDP, his son defected to the Jagan party. And by addressing a huge rally at Punganur, Balakrishna sent a strong message to Amarnath Reddy, who ‘ditched’ the party ending three decades of their families’ association with the TDP right from the days of NTR. At the same time, he wanted to consolidate the party’s base in Chittoor, which was once a stronghold of the TDP, which suffered some erosion after the advent of the YSR Congress party.
