Mamata quits UPA: Jagan stakes up?

Now that Trinamul Congress headed by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee walked out of the United Progressive Alliance in protest against the harsh decisions taken by the Manmohan Singh government, every single MP has become crucial for the UPA.

Though there is no threat to the Central government as of now, because the Congress party is expecting support from Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal, the situation is very precarious for the UPA. The DMK is also extremely unhappy with the Congress over harassment of its MPs in 2G spectrum and other cases and may walk out any time. The SP, too, is not very happy with the UPA.

In that event, the Congress will definitely go soft with smaller parties like YSR Congress party and Telangana Rashtra Samithi, both of which have two MPs each. Definitely, the stakes of Jaganmohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhara Rao would go up in the present circumstances. Let us see, whether these parties would get any bargaining power in the coming days.
