The five-day monsoon session of the state assembly which began on Monday has turned out to be yet another farcical exercise, as none of the political parties evinced any interest in running the business normally.

The first-day of the session was a complete wash-out, as the MLAs belonging to various political parties storming the podium demanding adjournment motion on different issues.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislators did not allow the business to go on demanding a resolution on the Telangana statehood, knowing fully well that the resolution could never be adopted.

On the other hand, the Telugu Desam Party gave a notice for an adjournment motion on electricity and other issues and stalled the house, though the party could raise the issue under a different rule. So was the case with the CPI, the BJP, the MIM and even YSR Congress party leaders. It appeared no party wanted any meaningful discussion on any issue.

The ruling Congress, too, appeared to be completely disinterested in discussing the issues of public concern. There were not even 20 per cent of the Congress MLAs in the house, which clearly showed their utter disregard towards the assembly. No wonder, the assembly runs like this when the Parliament itself could not be run in a proper manner!
