Whenever there is a talk that the Congress high command would take up change of guard in the state, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy tries to get a positive statement from AICC leader K B Krishnamurthy in his favour.
Krishnamurthy reiterated his statement on Tuesday that there was no proposal to change the CM for the time being.
“I clarified repeatedly that there is no plan to change the chief minister. Kiran Kumar Reddy will continue to be the CM of Andhra Pradesh till 2014, because the government’s term will end by that time. If the party comes back to power in 2014, then there will be discussion as to who would be the new CM,” he said.
Krishnamurthy, however, did not make it clear as to whether there would be any change in the leadership of the Pradesh Congress Committee to replace existing chief Botsa Satyanarayana. He said the PCC and the District Congress Committees would be reconstituted shortly.
“We are planning to strengthen the party at all levels and gear it up for the next elections. There is no question of tolerating any indiscipline in the party,” he said.
One does not know how far one should take Krishnamurthy seriously, because whatever he said in the past did not prove correct. A month ago, he said there would be reshuffle of the Kiran cabinet after the Presidential elections, but it did not happen.
