Ex-Minister Charged With Land Grabbing

Former minister and senior Congress leader G Vinod was on Friday charged by the Hyderabad police with trying to encroach upon government land in Banjara Hills.

According to the charge sheet filed before the third additional metropolitan magistrate court in Nampally, Vinod, son of veteran Congress leader G Venkatswamy, had tried to encroach upon government land in survey no. 403 at Road No. 2, Banjara Hills. The police booked the case against him under section 447 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

The former minister, however, has already obtained bail in the case. Yet, the case has turned out to be yet another blot on the Congress party, which has already been in major crisis following charge-sheeting of Dharmana and Mopidevi, besides impending cases against four other ministers and half a dozen IAS officers.

God only save this 125-year old party!
