TJAC to believe TDP on Telangana?

Telangana Joint Action Committee seems to have decided to pamper Telugu Desam Party, rather than going with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s strategy of bringing pressure on the Congress party on the Telangana statehood issue.

TJAC leaders, led by Prof M Kodandaram met Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana and sought his help in convincing the TDP on the Telangana issue.

“The CPI should take the initiative in getting a positive statement from the TDP on the Telangana issue. That would help the JAC to isolate the Congress party and bring pressure on the Centre to grant separate Telangana at the earliest,” Kodandaram said.

He appealed to Narayana to see that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu write a letter to the Centre in support of Telangana at the earliest. Narayana asked the JAC leaders to wait till Naidu writes a letter.

The CPI, however, refused to join the TJAC, saying it would lead to more complications. “We are supporting the cause. That is enough,” he said.
