Naidu's Double Fault On Telangana!

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is making a double fault on the Telangana statehood issue by deciding to write a letter to the Centre in support of the demand.

According to party sources, Naidu has decided to give the letter to the Centre as he is under the impression that the Centre would anyway not give Telangana statehood. So, by giving the letter, Naidu hopes to win a few seats in Telangana and since the statehood would anyway be not given, its position would not get disturbed in the Seemandhra region, he feels.

However, some leaders are apprehensive that the decision would in fact boomerang on the party and it would be losing in both Telangana as well as Seemandhra. If the TDP president gives the letter in support of Telangana state and the Centre takes a positive decision to bifurcate the state, the Congress would take advantage of it and claim in Seemandhra region that it had to give Telangana only because the TDP had demanded it. That would result in a great loss to the TDP in Seemandhra, while the Congress and the TRS would share the honours in Telangana. In both ways, it would be a loss for the TDP.
