If You Have 'Small' Go BL

It is a tried and tested fact that over the decades the world of cinema and entertainment has lost the essence of promoting an art. It is all about providing some fun and make money. That way, the category of movies has been classified as big budget, medium budget and small budget.

Now something has come up in the small budget arena. If you are coming up with a small budget flick then you better make it a bilingual. This is the new formula coming. Apparently, the additional expenses for dubbing the film and canning few exclusive scenes comes to around Rs 20 lakhs.

This is of high quality output. And with some good media contacts 1 cr can be earned easily through satellite rights. So, by selling it in two languages, here and there the makers can have Rs 2 crores earnings. That way, even if the budget is Rs 1.2 crores plus Rs 20 lakhs for the second version then the total is Rs 1.5 crores.

And the makers get Rs 2 crores through TV channels. Rest is earnings from theatres. Of course, the catch is, without proper contacts in media it can’t be sold. Also, the makers must have some solid contract in the distribution field and this should be sufficient to take the film to a success stage even before releasing it on screen.
