Parthasarathy May Be Asked To Quit?

Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathy appears to have no option but to resign from the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet, following the report by revenue authorities to the Election Commission authorities that he had disclosed the FERA case against him in the election affidavit in 2009.

Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said if it is proved that the minister had deliberately not disclosed the case details in the affidavit, action would be taken against him. Further cases would be booked against him under the Representation of People’s Act, he said.

Going by the EC sources, the minister is in deep trouble and he might have to resign from the cabinet once the cases are filed.

The EC is acting on a petition filed by retired IAS officer E A S Sarma, who said Parthasarathy had not disclosed the FERA case against him in the affidavit. He argued that the inaccurate disclosure was punishable under the provisions of IPC and the election laws.
