Kiran's Steps Up Attack On Jaipal Reddy

In an apparent bid to save his seat, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has stepped up attack on union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy, alleging that the latter was neglecting the state government’s repeated requests for gas supplies to thermal power plants in the state.

The Chief Minister’s Office on Friday leaked to a section of media a letter written by the Chief Minister to the Union Petroleum Ministry recently asking for allocation of natural gas for Nedunuru power plant in Karimnagar and Shankarpally power plant in Ranga Reddy districts, both in the Telangana region.

“Unfortunately, the union minister has completely ignored the repeated requests for gas allocation and has turned blind eye to the Telangana power projects,” the CMO quoted Kiran as saying.

The Chief Minister also made a reference to these power plants while addressing a gathering at Indiramma Baata in Khammam district.

“I have written four letters to the Centre on gas allocation to Nedunuru and Shankarapalli projects. Perhaps, my Telangana friends are not aware of the same and hence, might have criticised me for ignoring Telangana projects. As a Chief Minister of the state, I give equal importance to all the regions,” he said.
