The resentment within the ruling Congress party is brewing against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on his proposed dilution of fee reimbursement scheme for students of weaker sections pursuing higher studies in professional colleges.
While minister for labour Danam Nagender and minister for marketing M Mukesh Goud, the famed Hyderabad brothers, went hammer and tongs at the Chief Minister for trying to fix a cap on the fee reimbursement scheme, it was the turn of former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir and Nizamabad Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi to take a dig at the government’s decision.
Shabbir said the government has taken a hasty decision without consulting the party leaders.
“The social welfare minister Pitani Satyanarayana should not have disclosed the sub-committee’s recommendations, as it triggered unrest among the students. The government should examine the pros and cons of the decision,” he said.
Yashki warned that the Congress party might have to pay a heavy price for the hasty decision of the Chief Minister. He threatened to launch a fast unto death if the government does not drop its plan.
