Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao might be openly supporting YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, but is not interested in joining the party.
This was made clear by Lakshmi Parvathi herself to the media. She said she had not joined the YSR Congress nor did she have any such intention.
“I have highest regard for late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who was the second most popular leader in the state after NTR. Since his son Jaganmohan Reddy has landed in deep troubles, I am supporting him. I campaigned for his party in the recent by-elections as he was like my son. I am also praying the gods for his early release,” she said.
Sources, however, said LP did not get any assurance from Jagan for a ticket in the next assembly elections and hence, she has not made any commitment to join his party.
The YSR Congress party is of the view that she is only of nuisance value, but has no public base. She has no resources to fight the elections. At the most, she might get some respectable post in the government, if Jagan comes to power, sources say.
