The inability of the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in tackling various issues concerning the people has been giving an excellent opportunity for YSR Congress party to go into the people and highlight the government’s failures.

Take for example, the most sensitive issue like fee reimbursement scheme for students. Though the high court had ordered the government to adopt uniform fee structure for all students in the professional colleges, it completely ignored the same and moved the court in the last moment. And with Supreme Court, too, ordering the uniform fee structure, the government landed in soup, because the fee has to be increased to Rs 52,000 per year in all the engineering colleges, causing more than Rs 800 crore burden on the exchequer.

The chief minister has now appointed a high level committee to look into the fee structure and in all probability, it might suggest a ceiling on the reimbursement of fee. Naturally, this is going to be a big weapon for the opposition parties to attack the government. And YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi lost no time in capitalizing on the government’s failure. She announced that she would take up two-day “deeksha” at Eluru on August 12 and 13 demanding complete reimbursement of fee to students. And this is going to be a major embarrassment to Kiran!
