Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has found fault with the Kiran Kumar Reddy government for providing unprecedented security cover to YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi for taking up deeksha at Siricilla in Karimnagar district on Monday.

VHR said more than 10,000 police forces were deployed to provide security to the YSR Congress party leader.

“There is absolutely no necessary to use so much force for her. When Vijayalakshmi could go to Siricilla taking help of such a huge police force, I will also go to Pulivendula in Kadapa district to stage a deeksha to extend support to the BCs there. Will the government provide same kind of security to me?” he asked.

He questioned the propriety of Vijayalakshmi going to Siricilla to talk about weavers, without spelling out her stand on the Telangana statehood demand.

“The people of Telangana are agitated. She should have taken a clear stand on Telangana before going there,” VHR said.
