It looks like the Telangana statehood continues to be a distant dream or to be precise, a mirage for the protagonists of separate state. Whenever it is expected that the Congress high command will focus on the contentious bifurcation issue, some other serious development diverts its attention and the Telangana is pushed to the backseat.

At a time when there were reports that the Congress high command would spell out its stand on the Telangana soon after the Presidential elections, the sudden revolt by Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar and his team came as a big trouble for the Congress party. The revolt has almost threatened the UPA government as Pawar and his colleague Praful Patel deciding to quit the Manmohan Singh cabinet.

Obviously, Congress president Sonia Gandhi would be engaged in pacifying Pawar team for the next few days; and in the process, the Telangana issue would be put on the backburner. And KCR will be losing his face, as his statement that the Centre would grant Telangana in a month or two would have no value now!
