Has the Central Bureau of Investigation softened its stand against YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in his alleged illegal assets case?
A section of political observers are of the view that the CBI is indeed going soft on Jagan these days. It was evident from the way the CBI authorities did not object to Jagan’s petition in the special court seeking permission to go out of the jail and exercise his franchise in the Presidential elections on July 19. The CBI told the court that they have no objection to Jagan going to the state assembly hall to cast his vote on the polling day.
Sources said the CBI has also decided against approaching the high court challenging the special court’s order rejecting the conduct of narco-analysis test on Jagan. And if Jagan moves the bail petition in the Supreme Court, too, the CBI may not oppose the same, sources said.
The reasons for the CBI’s changed stand are not beyond one’s comprehension. His decision to vote for Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections has made all the difference, sources said.
