YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been languishing in Chanchalguda jail since May 28, is making every effort to come out of the jail and breathe fresh air.
On Monday, Jagan filed a petition in the CBI special court seeking permission to come out of the jail to cast his vote in the Presidential elections scheduled to be held on July 19. In his petition, he said he had got permission from the Election Commission to exercise his franchise in Hyderabad.
“As a citizen of India and an elected representative, it is my fundamental right to vote in the Presidential elections. As such, I request the court to permit me to cast my vote in the state assembly and direct the CBI authorities to make necessary arrangements to take me to the polling station on the polling day,” he said.
Needless to say, Jagan will use the opportunity to greet the people who will definitely come in large numbers to see him after a long time. However, it remains to be seen whether the court will permit him to come out of the jail on a special condition, or allow him to use the postal ballot facility within the jail.
