Surekha Back Into Limelight With 'Bonalu'

Former minister and YSR Congress party leader Konda Surekha might have faced the defeat in Parkal by-elections with a narrow margin, but she is definitely not out. She is using every opportunity to be in the media and public limelight.

On Sunday, Surekha appeared at Mahankali temple at Lalderwaja in the Old City of Hyderabad to offer traditional “bonalu” to the deity. And much to her surprise, she got tremendous response from the crowds. She was given a rousing reception by the temple committee and was taken inside for a special darshan. Needless to day, she attracted the attention of the media which gave her wide coverage.

Despite her loss, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother Vijayalakshmi have given her a lot of importance in the party. Vijayamma not only went to the residence of Surekha to call on her, but also made her the central governing council member. If the speculations are to be believed, Surekha might field Surekha in the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
