It looks like Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is contemplating bringing in his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna into active politics much earlier than he actually wanted, in the wake of the latest crisis in the party on account of a series of defections.
Naidu had a lengthy meeting with Balayya at his residence late on Wednesday night and discussed the fall out of the defection of Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani from the party to the YSR Congress party headed by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The TDP president reportedly suggested that Balayya start taking active part in the politics immediately and concentrating on Gudivada constituency from where he would be contesting in the 2014 elections.
“If we neglect the constituency, Nani and Jagan would put all their energies to capture our vote bank. If you begin your campaign now itself, we can prevent the exodus of the TDP cadres into YSR Congress and there will be new life to the party. You can also concentrate on consolidating our community vote bank,” Naidu suggested.
If Balayya takes plunge into politics immediately, Naidu would have to put off the entry of Lokesh into politics for the time being. Otherwise, Lokesh could go hand in hand with his father-in-law Balayya to sustain the tempo, party sources said.
