Nani Meets Vijayamma, Sacked From TDP

The Telugu Desam Party has lost one more MLA on Monday, with Kodali Nani, legislator from Gudivada constituency in Krishna district, shifting his loyalties to YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

As reported in these columns a couple of days ago, Nani met Jagan’s mother and YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi at the Lotus Pond residence and formally joined the party. He is expected to meet Jagan in the Chanchalguda jail later.

Though Nani was planning to resign from the TDP later in the evening, party president N Chandrababu Naidu issued orders suspending him from the party within minutes of his meeting with Vijayamma. The MLA is also expected to quit his assembly membership.

Another TDP legislator – Chinnam Ramakotaiah from Nuzvid, is also likely to quit the TDP and join the YSR Congress party sooner or later.

Though both the MLAs had met Naidu earlier and refuted the reports that they were quitting the party, they have been keeping away from the party activities for quite some time. They did not attend the “Maha Dharna” organized by Naidu in Vijayawada recently demanding construction of flyover near Durga temple.

It is also now predicted that Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the TDP’s urban unit president in Vijayawada, would also follow Nani shortly. Vamsi and Nani are very good friends and they take decisions together.
