How long will Jagan be in jail?

It looks like the Central Bureau of Investigation is making all out efforts to see that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would remain in the Chanchalguda jail as long as possible so that he would be mentally exhausted.

The CBI special court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Jagan till July 14. Incidentally, in the morning, the high court rejected his petition for bail on the ground that he would influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidences. It means Jagan would continue to be in the jail as long as the CBI court continues to extend the remand. Since the CBI filed a supplementary charge sheet on Tuesday, the court will have a reason to extend the remand.

But how long would this go on? The CBI’s intention seems to be making Jagan mentally exhausted and frustrated. Though he has got the special prisoner status, nobody would like to be confined to the four walls of the jail without seeing the outside world for a long time. Being a man of people, Jagan would not like to be away from them for a long time. Moreover, the CBI court is not even allowing him to appear in the court personally, but prefers to try him only through video conferencing mode.

Perhaps, the powers that be are hoping that Jagan would come down on knees if he is kept in the jail for a long time. But he is mentally tough and so, he would continue to wage the battle even if he is in the jail.
