High profile joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation V V Lakshminarayana, who has been adopting aggressive approach towards YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the alleged illegal assets case, received a strong reprimand from the High Court for his over-enthusiasm in talking to media.
The high court on Monday admitted a public interest litigation petition from one Bhushan Bhavanam from Guntur on the mobile call data records of Lakshminarayana which clearly established that he had spoken to the media several times in the recent past. He alleged that Lakshminarayana had given leaks to the media on the ongoing investigation against Jaganmohan Reddy.
Taking the petition seriously, the high court pulled up Lakshminaryana and wondered why he had to speak to the media persons so many times. “Where is the need for an investigation agency to talk to the media persons?” the court asked and ordered that Lakshminarayana come out with an explanation by July 9.
