Naidu feels TDP is still strong in Telangana!

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is capable of looking at the defeats even in a positive angle to satisfy his ego and appease the party cadres.

The TDP has not won even a single by-election after the 2009 assembly elections and had in fact lost the deposits at several places. Particularly in Telangana region, the party has suffered heavy losses, as it had lost five of its sitting MLAs – Chennamaneni Ramesh, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Gampa Goverdhan and Jogu Ramanna. Except Nagam, the remaining four had joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Yet, Naidu is able to see a ray of hope for the party in the next general elections in 2014 despite the fact that he had not taken any stand on the Telangana region. “The fact that the TDP could get more than 30,000 votes in Parkal and was able to retain its deposit, itself shows that the party fabric is still strong and there is every chance for us to bounce back. In the earlier by-polls in Station Ghanpur, Adilabad and Kollapur, besides Banswada a few months ago, the TDP could put up a good show. In Station Ghanpur, the party could get the second position. So, there is no reason why we should get disheartened,” he told the Telangana party leaders who met him after the recent by-poll results.

Well, it is always better to remain optimistic or at least give such a picture to the party people. Otherwise, it will be a big threat to Naidu’s position itself!
