The people of Telangana lost faith in the Congress party and it was clearly reflected in the Parkal by-electtions, says former minister and senior Congress party leader R Damodar Reddy.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Damodar Reddy said the people of Telangana had never demanded for posts and positions for leaders in the government. “If they really wanted that the chief minister should be from Telangana, it would have been given two years ago. But they are demanding separate state, not posts,” he said.
He warned that if the Congress party did not agree for bifurcation and grant Telangana state, it would lose heavily in both the regions. “If Telangana is given, the party can win all the 17 Lok Sabha seats from this region,” he said.
He demanded that the Congress ministers in the Kiran cabinet should resign immediately to bring pressure on the high command. “We will soon leave for New Delhi to impress upon the high command to give Telangana state,” he said.
