Telangana NGOs Association leader Swamy Goud is facing the threat of arrest following a High Court order on Thursday asking the government to take action against him for his alleged role in the large scale irregularities in the Telangana NGOs Housing Cooperative Society at Gachibowli.
Reacting to a petition filed by the victims of the society, the High Court expressed anger at the lackadaisical attitude of the government in taking action against Swamy Goud, who was allegedly responsible for the irregularities. It directed the government to file a counter by Monday.
Swamy Goud, who had shot into lime light for leading a heroic battle for separate statehood during the Sakala Janula Samme, was facing allegations of indulging in manipulations in the society.
A cooperative department official Kiranmayi, who conducted a comprehensive inquiry following instructions from the high court, submitted her report to the government recently.
The report brought out a large number of irregularities in the society, including enrolment of members, allotment of plots to retired employees and those from outside Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and mismanagement of society funds and records. The report also brought to light that as many as 248 benami persons got the plots from the TNGO society.
Though the official did not name Swamy Goud personally, he would have to take the blame as he is the president of the association.
