As usual, Congress party MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal has come out with his post-poll predictions immediately after the conclusion of polling for 18 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat held on Tuesday.

Lagadapati told the media after the polling that YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would win majority of the assembly seats in the by-elections besides Nellore Lok Sabha seat. He said the Jagan’s party would win 12-15 assembly seats.

The Congress has the possibility of winning one to three seats, while the TDP might win two seats. The Parkal assembly seat, however, will go to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, he said.

The Congress MP said the Congress party had given a tough fight in the elections and its performance would have been better had its started preparing for the contest well in advance.

In any case, the ruling party had done considerably well in the by-polls and it had managed to counter the campaign of Vijayalakshmi and Sharmila. The performance of the YSR Congress would come down drastically in Kadapa district, he predicted.
