The Kiran Kumar Reddy government seems to be acting with vengeance against all those who had benefited during the regime of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister held a meeting with senior officials of the revenue, infrastructure and industries department and ordered them to take steps for cancellation of the agreement with Ras Al Khaimah and Matrix Enport Ltd on setting up mega infrastructure project – Vodarevu and Nizampatnam Port Infrastructure Corridor (VANPIC) spread over 25,000 acres in Guntur and Prakasam district. He reportedly asked them to look into all legal aspects before canceling the agreement.
The VANPIC project is in the focus as the project was awarded by the YSR government as an alleged quid pro quo deal with its promoter Nimmagadda Prasad for making huge investments up to Rs 850 crore in the business empire of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Nimmagadda and then minister for infrastructure Mopidevi Venkataramana, who had signed the GO on allotment of lands to the project, are now in Chanchalguda jail along with Jagan.
The government has earlier cancelled the agreements on Brahmani Steels Project proposed to be set up by Gali Janardhan Reddy and Rakshana Steels, supposedly has the backing of YSR’s son in law Anil Kumar. If Kiran goes on canceling these agreements, it is doubtful whether there will be any new industries in the state.
