Telugu Desam Party on Monday found fault with YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for refusing to board the police van during his transport from Chanchalguda jail to Nampally court and back.
“If not a van, what transport facility do the police expect to provide for an accused who had amassed thousands of crores of rupees through illegal means? Does Jagan expect the police to airlift him from the jail by a helicopter to the Nampally court?” asked TD parliamentary party leader Nama Nageshwara Rao.
The TDP leaders said Jagan was no different from other under-trials and all were equal before the law. They reminded that even Satyam Computers founder-chairman B Ramalinga Raju and Gali Janardhan Reddy were escorted to jail and brought to the court in the ordinary police vans only.
“Jagan is trying make an issue out of everything and gain political mileage before the polling in by-elections,” they said.
