There appears to be a sustained conspiracy against YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, at least going by what the his party leaders feel.
As the court verdicts are going against Jagan, there is another development that has irritated his party leaders. That is the appointment of Justice V Eshwaraiah as the acting chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in place of Justice M B Lokur, who was relieved on Friday to go to Supreme Court on promotion as a judge. It takes some time for the new chief justice to take charge.
And the effect of Justice Eshwaraiah’s appointment as acting CJ had its effect on the Jagan on Day one itself. The HC rejected his quash petition against his arrest and granted permission to the CBI to take him into custody.
It may be mentioned that YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi opposed Justice Eshwaraiah hearing her petition, as there were allegations against him of being pro-Chandrababu Naidu. The YSR Congress party has alleged that Justice Eshwaraiah and his family members had political connections with the TDP – his wife was a former zilla parishad member of the TDP in Nalgonda, while his brother was party’s block unit president and his cousin had contested on the TDP ticket from Miryalguda Lok Sabha constituency.
