Kiran Gets Yet Another EC Notice

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy landed in yet another trouble for his “slip of tongue” in addressing public meetings during his election campaign.

The Election Commission of India on Friday issued notices to the chief minister for his “religious remarks” while addressing a public road show in Tirupati recently. It took serious note of Kiran’s comment that voting for any political party other than the Congress party would amount desecrating the Tirumala temple. “Voting for any other party would spoil the sanctity of the Lord Venkateshwara temple,” he said at the meeting.

The EC, which went through the complaints of the YSR Congress party leaders, felt that the chief minister’s comments amounted to violation of the model code of conduct. The EC, in its notice, asked the Chief Minister to give an explanation by Saturday.
