Did YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy threaten ace director Ramgopal Varma and forced him to remove certain portions from his film “Raktha Charitra”?

Yes, says Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal. He said Jagan had called up Varma several times and threatened with dire consequences if there were any scenes in the film that had any reference to him (Jagan).

The film was based on the faction rivalry between Paritala Ravindra and Maddelacheruvu Suri in Anantapur district; and Jagan had faced the allegations of abetting the murder of Paritala.

YSR Congress Party spokesman Ambati Rambabu took serious exception to Lagadapati charge.

“This is ridiculous as the film had passed by, rather quickly, and that was long time ago. Why he did not complain on the issue at that time is the obvious question. If the Parliamentarian and the film director are going to channels with their version now it sounds ridiculous,” he said adding that both werepublicity mongers.
