In yet another shock to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, party legislator from Nuzvid in Krishna district Chinnam Ramakotaiah declared on Thursday that he would not be contesting on the TDP ticket in the next elections.
Though Ramakotaiah did not say specifically, he has clearly indicated that he would be quitting the TDP at the earliest.
“There is no possibility of the TDP staging a come back to power in the next elections. At least in Krishna district, it has no hopes. I have realized that there is no point in contesting on the TDP ticket in the next elections. Even if the TDP offers me a ticket again, I will not contest,” he said.
The MLA said he would take a decision on which party he would be joining only after discussing with his supporters in the constituency. However, there are reports that he had already done bargaining with the YSR Congress party and might take a plunge into the Jaganmohan Reddy camp at any time.
The TDP has already lost Mantralayam MLA Y Balanagi Reddy to the YSR Congress party. Besides, five other MLAs – Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, Gampa Goverdhan, Jogu Ramanna and Nallapuredd Prasanna Kumar Reddy had already deserted the party to join various parties.
