What will happen if the Telugu Desam Party does not come to power in the state in 2014?

According to a TDP leader observing the developments closely, party president N Chandrababu Naidu will go mad and withdraw from active politics.

“The TDP president is not willing to believe that he would not come to power in the 2014 elections. So, he is bound to lose his mental balance if the results are otherwise. He will either withdraw from politics or get admitted to hospital with serious ailment,” he predicted.

In fact, the TDP could have returned to power in 2009 itself. But his plans went awry due to Praja Rajyam Party floated by megastar Chiranjeevi and Lok Satta Party floated by bureaucrat Jayaprakash Narayana. In several constituencies, the TDP lost by a few thousand votes due to splitting of anti-establishment vote by the PRP.

And when Naidu was hoping that he would get the chance in 2014 as the PRP was merged with the Congress, he has got the obstacle again in the form of YSR Congress party floated by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Now, Jagan has become a threat both to the Congress as well as the TDP. Moreover, Naidu’s bungling with the Telangana issue has also caused irreversible damage to the party. Now, he has bleak chances of coming to power again, unless there is a miracle. And Naidu is hoping to make such a miracle!
