The new PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana has assigned himself a double role, straddling between the two territories of the party organization and the government with gusto.
Continuing his aggressive style of functioning, Botsa held a special meeting on Tuesday with the Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and Ministers Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Parthasarathi and Vatti Vasantha Kumar.
His separate meetings with the ministers and sermons on various issues are causing concern in the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s camp.
However, sources close to Kiran said that he would wait for a right opportunity to clip the wings of Botsa.
“It seems Botsa wants to have a say in matters of governance as well. The way he has been holding with ministers in small groups, enquiring about their departmental issues and giving free advices, it is clear that he is encroaching upon others’ territory,” source said.
It seems that Botsa is trying to emulate the former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy who used to take complete charge of both the government and the party organization. However, Botsa lacks the stature and following that YSR had enjoyed.
Right from the day he took charge as the PCC President, Botsa has been unstoppable. He has made his ambitions very clear from the beginning. In fact, he fired his first salvo against the Chief Minister, saying that the government should have acted with much more alacrity and foresight on the issue of supply of seeds to farmers. Looks like this is just a beginning and the battle of wits will only get bitter by the day.
