Nandikotkuru MLA to stay back in YSRC, for now!

The internal bickering in the YSR Congress party in Nandikotkuru assembly constituency in Kurnool district has subsided, at least for now, with party MLA Toguru Arthur, announcing that he would abide by whatever decision party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy takes.

The crisis in the party reached its peak on Friday, when Arthur almost readied his resignation from the party and was about to address the media to announce his resignation, when he received call from the party bosses.

They told him to discuss his issues with Jagan who would definitely resolve them. Following this, Arthur told media persons in the afternoon that he would abide by whatever decision Jagan would take.

“It is true that I was terribly upset with the developments in the party in the constituency and my followers were also agitated. But I am sure justice would be done to me and my group,” Arthur said.

For quite some, Arthur had engaged in a bitter war of one-upmanship with local YSRC leader Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, who was an aspirant for the party ticket in the last assembly elections.

Siddharth Reddy has virtually been dominating the party activities in the constituency, completely ignoring the local MLA.

The differences reached their peak when Siddharth lobbied for the market committee posts for his followers, denying even a single post to the followers of Arthur.

When YSRC leadership announced the name of Malla Reddy, a close associate of Siddharth, for the market committee chairman post, Arthur was upset.

On Friday, when Malla Reddy took over as the chairman, the MLA decided to call it quits to the party. But he got a call from party senior leaders in Amaravati, who advised him to stay back in the party and assured him that his interests would be taken care of.

Arthur relented, but expressed regrets over the importance being given to Siddharth Reddy.

“I was not even invited for the swearing-in ceremony of the market committee members. But it’s okay. I will work hard in the coming local body elections and prove my commitment to the party,” the MLA said.
