The TDP candidate Tangirala Soumya has won as Nandigama MLA in the recently held by-elections. Since the election was held following the death of sitting MLA Tangirala Prabhakar Rao, his daughter Soumya contested from the constituency.
Owing to this, the main opposition party, YSRCP did not field its candidate there. However, Congress had fielded its candidate and it managed to secure 25,000 seats.
Even though the party could not get 2000 votes during the last elections, many were surprised that it managed to get 25,000 votes in the by-election.
Speaking after being declared a winner, Soumya said that it was a gift that people gave TDP after making Vijayawada the capital. She said people also voted in respect for her late father.
She assured that she would strive for the people and ensure that she lived up to their expectations.
