After the shocking carnage in Peshawar, the Pakistani establishment announced its intention of clamping down on terrorism, with a vengeance.
The global community also was hopeful of a reformed Pakistan after this tragedy. However a few days into the incident, it is quite apparent that nothing seems to have changed in Pakistan!
The timely interception of the Pakistan boat laden with terrorists and explosives by the Indian Coast Guard off the coast of Gujarat may have easily prevented another Mumbai kind of attack.
That such a mission cannot have been sanctioned without the approval of the top leadership in Pakistan is indicative of the fact that Pakistan can never be trusted to ‘walk the talk’.
In fact, relying on the political leadership of Pakistan for concrete action on terrorism especially directed against India is of no avail.
The real rulers of Pakistan are the ISI and it is they who call the shots. The political leadership in Pakistan is just a dummy and hence there is no point in providing them with proofs or any such things.
The best India can do is to maintain a constant vigil or if the occasion demands, pre-emptive strikes! In that lies our only hope of safety!
