Capital Woes: 500 Acres Is Enough To Construct

The Sivaramakrishnan Committee has mentioned in its report that about 500 acres of land would be sufficient for the Andhra Pradesh government to build new building to house state Assembly, Secretariat and other important offices.

However, like it had hinted in the past, the committee had recommended that instead of building all offices in one city, it would be ideal to spread out various offices all over the state.

They had specifically mentioned that there was no need to build the High Court in the same city where Assembly and Secretariat would be built.

The Committee suggested that 20 acres would be required to build the Secretariat and offices of various ministers.

Similarly, 80 to 100 acres were necessary to construct the state Assembly, they mentioned.

While they set aside 15 acres for Raj Bhavan which happens to be the Governor’s residence, another 100 to 140 acres would be required to construct the High Court they said.

The Committee also indicated that High Court could be built in Vizag while a bench can be set up in Rayalaseema.
