APCC to launch postcard campaign over bifurcation promises

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today said it would launch a postcard campaign from February 6 over Centre and state government's "failure" to fulfil the promises given before the bifurcation of state in June last year.

"The Centre as well as the state government have failed to bring into reality the promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014," newly-appointed APCC spokesperson Kolanukonda Shivaji told reporters here today.

"Under the Act, special package had been announced by the Centre for the development of industries in Andhra Pradesh. Secondly, the Polavaram irrigation project was declared as a national project under the Reorganisation Act.

"Moreover, establishment of national institutions like IIT, IIM was also promised under the Act. However, none of this has happened so far. Therefore, Congress will take up a mass movement against this," he added.

The decision to launch the mass movement was taken today during the APCC working committee meeting held here today under the chairmanship of the state party president N Raghuveera Reddy.
