KCR's policy of sucking up to the minorities and various castes by announcing special bhavans for them was a policy that was bound to fail, for the simple reason that it was a populist move aimed at compartmentalizing society rather than uplifting anyone.
These ‘Bhavans’ that will come up in prime lands will neither feed nor clothe a single member of the community they are intended for. They are just places of congregation.
Anyways, coming to the point, a large group of Christians had gone to meet KCR at his camp office in Begumpet. They had gone there to request him to save their 163 year- old St. Thomas SPG Tamil Cathedral near Secunderabad Railway Station, which was taken over by ‘Metro Rail’.
The security personnel at the camp office initially said that they would allow only 2 or 3 people inside to meet KCR. However, after making the poor folks wait for the better part of more than two hours, they were ordered to leave. KCR, it is at times like these that you should really prove your affinity with the minorities.
A 163 year old Church, a sacred place is about to be demolished and these citizens have approached you for help. Yet, you send them away without even meeting them! During contingencies like this, if you give them your time and find a solution, you would have more than done your job.
What is the point in announcing useless ‘Bhavans’ and then not being available to our citizens in their most pressing hour of need?
