World Cup: Cricket's Not All That Crazy

World Cup: Cricket's Not All That Crazy

The World Cup in Australia is getting increasingly India driven. Almost all India games are attracting packed houses.

The India-West Indies game on Friday is expected to be a sell-out.

The non-India games, though, are not attracting the crowds even if the home team is involved.

The WACA on Wednesday was half-full, rather halfempty. Just about 10,000 people turned up with large percentage of the spectators being the Afghans.

The Aussie fans are sports crazy but their loyalties are divided among quite a few sporting events. It is not just like India, cricket crazy.

Tendulkar Calls For 25-Team World Cup
Sydney: Sachin Tendulkar blasted proposals to slash the 2019 World Cup to just 10 nations, describing it as “a backward step“ and suggesting the tournament be expanded to 25 teams.

“I found out the next WC would only be 10 teams, which is disappointing because as a cricketer I want the game to be globalised as much as possible and, according to me, this is a backwards step,“ Tendulkar said.
