The arrest of Telugu Desam Party MLC G Deepak Reddy in connection with the multi-crore land scam in Hyderabad has put TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister in an embarrassing position.
About six cases were lodged against him and he was arrested after police served several notices on him and the MLC chose not to respond. Apparently he thought he would get away with the scam because he happens to be closely related to Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy.
Now, the question is whether Naidu would dare suspend him from the party, as he had done in the case of TDP MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, following the Income Tax raids on him, in connection with the illegal assets case.
Like Vakati, Deepak too has amassed more than Rs 15,000 crore worth of lands through illegal land grabbing, according to the police remand report.
It may be mentioned that Naidu has been hesitant to take action against JC brothers- Diwakar Reddy or Prabhakar Reddy despite irregularities in their transport business.
Even when there was a major accident involving Diwakar Travels at Nandigama, Naidu did not take any action. And politically, too, Diwakar Reddy made several comments against Naidu, but the latter could not take any disciplinary action.
If he doesn’t suspend Deepak Reddy, it would send wrong signals among the people and also party cadre that he is scared of JC brothers. If suspends Deepak Reddy, it might spell doom for the party in Anantapur with the revolt of JC brothers!
