Will KCR Face Music Like Jayalalithaa?

Will KCR Face Music Like Jayalalithaa?

The way Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao threatened the Opposition party leaders that he would file criminal cases against them if they continue to make allegations against him and his government shows how intolerant the leaders become if they come to power.

The Opposition parties are bound to question the government and make allegations, but that does not mean the people in power should threaten them.

It was only on Wednesday that the Supreme Court pulled up Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa for filing over 200 criminal cases against the Opposition parties and the media only for criticising her government.

The court said: “You are a public figure and you have to face criticism. Tamil Nadu is the only state which misuses state machinery to fight defamation cases.”

Despite the Supreme Court observations, KCR made a similar threat to the Opposition leaders saying he would file criminal cases against them for making false allegations of corruption against the TRS government.

“I will throw them behind bars and make them eat jail food,” he warned.

If KCR starts filing criminal cases against the rivals, then he may have to face the same music from the Supreme Court. That would only bring a bad name to the government.
