Will a Face Off with YSRCP Help TDP?

Of late, the TDP is not letting go of even a small opportunity to go by without criticizing late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

It is a known fact that the TDP has been facing stiff competition from YSRCP and its head honcho Jagan. But one wonders if such tirades will help TDP get political gain.

As a matter of fact, no party stands to gain much by criticizing a dead leader. However, given the political developments in the state following the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, his name is dragged into discussions time and again.

Now he is once again being vehemently criticized for the role he played in influencing the recent verdict of Brajesh Kumar Tribunal.

TDP leader Chandra Babu Naidu and many of his colleagues have openly lambasted the dead leader for giving a letter to the Brajesh Kumar Tribunal forfeiting the rights on surplus waters which proved to be detrimental to the interests of 14 districts in the state.

Looking back, never did any opposition party vent its anger on a dead leader in this way.

However, in a counter attack, the YSRCP leaders have faulted the TDP leader Chandra Babu Naidu saying that Babu’s negligence during his term time led to the present deplorable situation.

But it is surprising to note that instead of getting a clarification from the incumbent Congress government, both the TDP and YSRCP have instead chosen to attack each other. This stands as a reflection to the chaotic political situation in the state.

It is obvious that TDP wants to target YSRCP by constantly hurling barbs at YSR. It is not clear though if such tactics will help the party because if the results of the by elections are anything to go by, then it clearly shows that TDP did not make much impact on the people.

Meanwhile, ex TDP minister Tummala Nageswara Rao alleged that nearly Rs 10,000 crores was wasted by the YSR government due to mishandling of funds and by initiating projects without proper planning. But TDP chose to ignore this point and is continuously harping on the letter submitted by YSR to the Brajesh Kumar Tribunal.

Though TDP claims to have initiated many projects in the state, the credit for completing them goes to YSR. So, it is questionable if TDP will gain any political mileage by constantly criticizing late YSR.

On the other hand, TDP seems to be hoping that their strategy will pay off in the long run.
